I reject that out of hand.
I find it impossible that that would be someone’s sole character trait. They might be weird, yes, or flaky perhaps, maybe even “random”, but it would be tautologically (syntactically?) impossible for someone’s character to be ‘doing things out of character’.
Chicken and egg, see? What would they be doing/not doing? What would they be contrary to? What character would they be out of? Contrarywise, what character would they be in?
It would be in character to be out of character, so then they wouldn’t not be in out of character, even though they wouldn’t if they could, so they won’t, but they do.
I realize that the question was probably facetious, but clearly it was more fun to assume it wasn’t. Wasn’t it?
